CITY OF THE DAWN

City of the Dawn explores Auroville, India a community of 2,000 from 40 nations founded on principles of shared leadership, sustainable development and new consciousness. The film demonstrates what is possible when people attempt to live together in a community beyond the boundaries of nation, religion and race that often separate us. Their experience raises questions about what can be accomplished on a broader scale when awareness of oneness drives our actions.

The purpose of Auroville is to realize human unity – in diversity. Today, Auroville is recognized as the first and only internationally endorsed ongoing experiment in human unity and transformation of consciousness. Residents are also concerned with, and practically researching into, sustainable living and the future cultural, environmental, social and spiritual needs of mankind.

The film is designed to inspire the hope and inner work to shift us individually as well as collectively. It is a great topic for individuals or organizations who are interested in exploring these themes.

City of the Dawn was awarded the Planet Prize Award at the European Spiritual Film Festival in March, 2010. The Planet Prize Award is given to the film that offers the most significant impact for the enrichment and improvement of our world. The film was also featured as an Official Selection at the Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema in January, 2010.
