Notes From Elsewhere

For years, at shows in places like Dublin and Anchorage and Bartow, WV, people have asked me if I have a recording of this or that song with just acoustic guitar and voice. Sounds reasonable, considering they just heard it that way -- and of course that's how these songs began. So I sat down in good rooms in front of good mics run by good engineers, and ran through them a few times, a few different ways. Then I'd go away, bike around town, go out with some friends or out on the road, and return a couple weeks later for another session. Over the years these are some of the songs that have stuck, and setting then down in this way told me why. I hope you like them.
